Our Women’s Fertility Blood Test blood test screens for the following:
Total and Free Testosterone: In women, testosterone helps to maintain bone density and muscle mass, but can be abnormally elevated in PCOS contributing to acne and unwanted hair growth.
Anti-müllerian hormone (AMH):helps to assess a woman’s fertility potential. Higher levels of AMH usually indicate a larger number of eggs, and lower levels of AMH may indicate a diminished egg count. Not bulk billable (pathology labs charge approx. $90)
SHBG: Sex Hormone Binding Globulin is a protein that binds to sex hormones in our body, reducing their activity. It helps regulate hormone levels.
FSH: Follicle Stimulating Hormone stimulates the growth and development of eggs in women.
Oestrodiol: Helps eggs develop, regulates the menstrual cycle, prepares the uterus for pregnancy, and affects cervical mucus.
LH: Luteinizing hormone triggers ovulation in women.
Prolactin: Plays a role in reproductive functions, such as regulating menstruation and fertility, and abnormally elevated levels can cause irregular cycles.
