Do I need a Medicare card to request blood tests online?

You need an Individual Health Identifier (IHI) to use InstantScripts. If you have a Medicare card, you will generally have an IHI. If you don't have a Medicare card, you can obtain an IHI through Services Australia. Without Medicare, the pathology collection centre may charge a fee for the tests themselves. Most routine blood test results are available within one to three business days, though some specialised tests can take longer. Results are typically sent to the referring doctor.
