Similarly, if you have had frequent or serious infections like pneumonia, sinusitis, abscess, or meningitis you may have a weakened immune system.

The immune system’s job is to defend the body from infection. It protects against germs, bacteria, parasites, viruses and other toxins which are harmful to your health.

Good general health including a balanced diet, moderate exercise and staying up to date with recommended vaccinations will all help your immune system to function at its best. But sometimes there may be other reasons why your defences are down.

InstantScripts is Australia’s leading online health clinic. We offer an immune system test which involves a blood test and is issued by one of our Australian-registered doctors. If it is approved by one of our doctors, the pathology form will be emailed to you. You then take this to your nearest pathology collection centre.

Once we receive the results, usually within a few days, we will email them to you. If there is anything abnormal, we will contact you for a follow-up consultation to walk you through the results and help identify recommended treatments. If you receive an abnormal result, you should also see your doctor.

This immune system test is for people who have been experiencing prolonged common illness, not for those with a serious condition. If you have symptoms such as night sweats, pain at night, unintentional weight loss, or if you have been suffering from pneumonia or meningitis you should see your doctor.

Take your pathology form to a collection clinic near you.

What we test for

This blood test screens for the following:

Full blood examination (FBE): This can help diagnose a wide range of illnesses, infections and diseases.
Glucose: This test checks your glucose levels as glucose is vital for the proper function and reproduction of your immune cells.
HIV serology: A test which identifies the human immunodeficiency viruses (HIV).
CRP, ESR: Measures specific proteins in the blood to help identify some diseases.
