Although some cholesterol is needed for your body to function, too much cholesterol can lead to health problems. The extra low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol builds up in the walls of the arteries, forming plaques. Plaques can block your arteries, making it harder for blood to flow through. This causes the vessels to narrow and they can eventually become blocked. This can lead to heart disease and stroke.

Lifestyle changes such as exercising and eating a healthy diet are the first line of defense against high cholesterol. However, if you’ve made these important lifestyle changes and your cholesterol levels remain high, a doctor may recommend medication. High blood cholesterol levels often have a genetic component. Some people inherit altered genes that cause high cholesterol.

We offer prescriptions for customers after they complete a short digital consultation with an Australian doctor. Once the digital consultation is completed, the answers are quickly reviewed by our registered doctors and, if approved, a prescription is issued in minutes.

InstantScripts also offers one day or multiple day medical certificates if you are unable to work. Blood tests and personalised healthcare programs are also available all from the convenience of your home.

How do I get a prescription online?

Once you have completed a digital or Telehealth consultation for your selected medication, your prescription request will be reviewed by one of our Australian registered doctors. If a prescription is approved, it will be emailed to your local pharmacy of choice, allowing you to pick up your prescription medication in minutes. A QR code for the medication can also be sent to your phone and email, or the medication can be delivered to your door through our trusted partners.

Can anyone use InstantScripts?

Anyone in Australia can access Telehealth consultations.

For the express script option, you must be 18 years old or over and living within Australia.

Can I get a medical certificate online using InstantScripts?

Yes, a doctor can issue you with a medical certificate if deemed suitable. The medical certificate will be emailed to you within minutes of the doctor reviewing your digital consultation.

For medical certificates that must be valid for more than 1 day, patients must consult with a doctor online via an InstantScripts Telehealth consultation.

Do I need a medicare card to use the InstantScripts service?

You will require a Medicare card for most of our services.
All requests on our site require an IHI (Individual Health Identifier). Generally, if you have a Medicare card number then you will have an IHI, but you could have an IHI without a Medicare card.

Our consultations are not bulk billed, but the pathology ordered through them, or on express pathology are generally bulk billed.

Our express scripts are also generally PBS subsidised so require a Medicare card number

How much does it cost?

Prescriptions without a phone consultation can be obtained via the InstantScripts platform for $15.

Same day Medical Certificates are available online for $19.

Online pathology tests can be requested for $20.

Telehealth consultations with one of our registered Australian doctors are available for $49.

Can I book a doctor’s appointment online?

Yes. You can book a doctor’s appointment online with InstantScripts.

If you need medical advice over the phone, you can request a Telehealth consultation to speak to a doctor online.

Can I get medicine delivered?

Yes, InstantScripts now offers medicine home delivery. Simply select the ‘Express Shipping’ option when requesting your prescriptions and, for a small additional fee, your medicine will be delivered straight to your door in 1-3 business days. Your medication will be fulfilled by Prahran Amcal Pharmacy located in Melbourne.

Please note that, for safety reasons, not all types of medication are eligible for home delivery.

Does InstantScripts bulk bill?

In January 2022, the Australian Government rules regarding telehealth bulk billing changed. In order to be eligible for bulk-billed doctor telehealth consultations, the patient must have had a face-to-face consultation with their doctor or another doctor in the same practice in the 12 months prior to the current telehealth service request.
